The number of Coronavirus cases is increasing drastically day by day. People are living in a state of fear and uncertainty. Many businesses have decided to close their doors until the threat is over. People have stopped travelling so the tourist attractions have turned into ghost towns.
The immediate victims of the current business and tourism situation are those working on daily wages; their only source of income being the labour-intensive work, associated with businesses and tourism.
Imagine earning for one day at a time and being left without the work for several days!
This is the situation of daily wagers in the current virtual lockdown. If the situation persists for long, the families of the millions of daily wagers would be forced into starvation.
Living in Australia, it is hard to imagine the sufferings of those families. Here, even in worst of the situations, people do not face food shortage or starvation; we know that our children won’t be left without food no matter what. Here, five-dollar is an insignificant amount for us, however, that is the amount a labourer earns in the third world countries, after working all day.
With the cooperation of Muslim community in Australia, Crescent Relief has started a campaign to provide essential food item packages to the labourers and daily wagers, in order to prevent their children and families from hitting starvation.
Despite living far from our motherland, we have been given a chance to be a ray of hope for those suffering in the dark and hopeless situation. This is our religious and moral duty as well as a debt we owe to our motherland.
Please donate as many ration packages as possible to ease up their sufferings.
